It’s been 6 years since I haven’t picked up any instrument, thought about writing or planned something about my music career. I had new studio equipment sitting in my storage doing nothing that I bought before, thinking that someday I will do something.
Talking about those good times I had with most of my friends from Costa Rica on Facebook, I realized how dedicated I was to my music before and how much fun I was having. Don’t get me wrong, I have always love music but I’ve been busy building all my other thousand projects.
I moved to the US in 2011 (Seattle WA) but it wasn’t until late 2016 that I started a plan about how to create music again, so in a couple of months I got most of my home studio (QUP Studio) together again, learned a couple of things that I forgot about music production and got ready to record.
Bringing back my past to get everything documented is the first task, giving credit to my band friends, and continuing to work on new material as a solo musician as soon as I can.
Browsing, photo album scans, looking for audio (old Pro Tools files), listening to cassette rehearsals, searching for lyrics and dates; of music projects from 1992 to 2007 is a little overwhelming. I’m still working on it and at the same time recording, mixing, mastering, and getting better on drums, guitar, bass and keys.
In the last 3 months, I re-mastered “World’s Blood” from Upshock, an EP that I recorded in 2008 and released in 2012. I also recorded the best Grossomodo song, “Historical Friend”, and an album with the best songs from Desorden Mental, one of my first bands from the beginning of the 90’s. Now I’m working on “Algoenquecreer”, an album from Upshock.
I haven’t planed anything for the future yet, but I want to bring more keyboards to my music and of course make a video, all as a DIY project so stay tuned and don’t forget to sign up for newsletters and follow me on social media. See ya!
